Club Tijuana preparing for quarterfinals match vs. Atletico Mineiro of Brazil; 2013 Copa Bridgestone Libertadores

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente continues with its preparations ahead of its quarterfinals match against Atletico Mineiro of Brazil in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Copa Libertadores. Coach Antonio Mohamed’s team trained Monday May 20 at Estadio Caliente ahead of the first leg match of a home-and-home series Thursday May 23 at 5:30 p.m.  at Estadio Caliente.


 


The team went through an intense physical training session with some intersquad scrimmages, marking the beginning of a historic week in the club’s existence.


 


Fidel Martinez and Oliver Ortiz analyzed the upcoming match after Monday’s practice heading into what is one of the club’s most important matches in the South American tournament.


 


“We are happy to be able to be in this, working hard, anticipating the game’s start,” Martinez said during an interview in the media mixed zone. “We know that it will be important to get a good result and we expect our fans to be behind us like it always has been.”


 


Ortiz, 20, a product of Club Tijuana’s youth teams and San Quintin, Baja California native talked about the team giving it all it has heading into this game under Mohamed’s game scheme.


 


“We are very motivated,” said Ortiz, who made his Mexican First Division and Copa Libertadores debut this season.  “We know what we are facing and we will try and give it all we can in every practice so we can demonstrate that everyone on this team will do what it can to help the team.”


 


The Xoloitzcuintles return to the Estadio Caliente field Tuesday to continue with practices as it prepares for Atletico Mineiro of Brazil.
