TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will hold a historic event when it begins the 2013 Copa Bridgestone Libertadores quarterfinals series against Club Atletico Mineiro of Brazil Thursday May 23 at Estadio Caliente (5:30 p.m.).

Coach Antonio Mohamed’s squad went through a great morning session Wednesday May 22 at Estadio Caliente. After the practice, coach Antonio Mohamed spoke about the moment he is living in Tijuana ahead of a high profile international match.

“We want to reach the semifinals,” Mohamed said. “We want to continue making history for the club. We will try to write another page in our history. This series will be a tough fight, very competitive. We will try to get through it. We made it here doing well. We have not allowed a goal at home in four games. It is important we repeat that. It will be key. We made it to this tournament as a championship team and we want to keep doing so.”

Mohamed talked about the base that helped Club Tijuana get to where it is at today.

“The thing that stands out the most is the way our team plays, is competitive,” Mohamed said. “We are a team. We play as a team and we fight as a team. We can beat anyone and , of course, we can lose to anyone if we are not a team.”

The team is ready for its clash against Club Atletico Mineiro. An unforgettable evening is expected in Tijuana as the team with the best record in the tournament visits the Xoloitzcuintles and its fans, who once again showed their support and have purchased every seat in the stadium for this 2013 Copa Libertadores match.
