A TIE IN 2014 COPA CHIVAS
Club Tijuana 1-1 Colombian National team: Week 4
GUADALAJARA- Mexico –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente’s youth team played to a 1-1 tie agaisnt the Colombian youth national team in the fifth match of the 2014 Scotiabank Copa Chivas international tournament Saturday Feb. 1.
It was a tight, tough fought out match until the end in which Colombia’s Yairo Moreno scored in the 15 minute wile Fernando David Are scored for Club Tijuana in the 73rd via a penalty kick, keeping the Xoloitzcuintles alive with a chance to move on to the next round.
With the result, coach Franky Oviedo’s team has seven points -good for third place in the Group B standings.
Club Tijuana will face Monarcas Morelia (8 points) Sunday Feb. 2. Morelia is the second place team in the group. It will be a game for the direct qualification to the 2014 Copa Chivas playoffs. The match between Xoloitzcuintles and Monarcas will kickoff at 10 a.m. Pacific at the ITESO facilities.
