FIRST ‘XOLOS FOR LIFE’ WALK, RUN 5K

Club Tijuana and Red Bicional de Corazones invite you to be part of event



TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente and Red Binacional de Corazones announced the launch of the first Xolos “for life’ race during a news conference March 5 at Estadio Caliente.


 The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Red Binacional de Corazones campaign.Registration for the race will cost $150.00 pesos. Proceeds will also go to the “Casa del Jardin” foundation to benefit those who need it most. The race will take place March 23 with the start and finish being at Estadio Caliente.


Esteban de Anda, Club Tijuana’s Marketing Director, talked about the importance about preventing social problems and find ways to fight them, including through sporting events such as 5K races.


“This race was born with the objective to fight against the abuse of children and the exploitation of people,” De Anda said. “The Club wants to create something that promotes sports. This has been in our plans for some time and through this event we can fight this problem.”  


Alma Tucker, Red Binacional de Corazones president, talked about the great motivation that exists within the organizers of this event that will benefit those who suffer from abuse.


“For Red Binacional de Corazones, this represents a great joy that Club Tijuana supports this event,” Tucker said. “As you know, boys and girls are sexually exploited not only in Tijuana but in the rest of the world. We are glad that in Baja California we are supporting this cause and that we are taking action against it.”


Ignaciao Anaya, an internationally known marathoner, Alberto Sandoval, President of the Alianza Civil, and Ruben Razo, President of the World Municipal Sports League in Tijuana, were the invited guests to be part of the news conference Wednesday who will also serve as race organizers.


According to the International Migration Organization (IMO), 2.5 Million people are captured and forced into slave-like work each year. “Free The Slaves” calculates that 27 Million people are forced to do slave type work.


In Mexico, statistics show that more than 20,000 boys and girls and teenagers are victims of sexual exploitation and 85,000 are used for pornographic acts. The department in charge of keeping these records in the United States estimates that in 21 to 32 different areas of the country, there is sexual tourism.


Club Tijuana and Red Binacional de Corazones begins this work to fight these types of abuse.
