UNDER-20 SQUAD LOOKING TO EXTEND STREAK

Club Tijuana hosts CD Guadalajara in Week 10 match

TIJUANA –With the post season less than two months away, Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente’s Under-20 squad is looking to continue its unbeaten streak and move closer to the top of the LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Clausura standings as it heads into a Week 10 match against visiting Club Deportivo Guadalajara.

The Xoloitzcuintles coached by Frankie Oviedo host Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara after playing to a 3-3 draw against Veracruz last week. The tie on the road was part of Club Tijuana’s five-game unbeaten streak. Oviedo’s squad last lost a match Jan. 17 in a Week 3 2-1 loss to Pachuca.

Club Tijuana is 3-4-1 this season with 13 points and sits in sixth place in the standings. The Xoloitzcuintles have found an offensive rhythm as it has outscored its opponents 14-10. On the other hand, CD Guadalajara has scored one more goal than it has conceded (15-14). Club Deportivo Guadalajara enters this match as the No. 11 team with a 2-2-5 record and 11 points. It is coming off a 2-1 win against Tigres UANL last week.

Both teams are looking to be within the top eight teams that move on to the post season, making this an important battle for the three points as qualifying positions are in play. Kickoff for this Under-20 match is 4 p.m. at Estadio Caliente.
