LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Clausura Week 13

QUERETARO, Mexico –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente allowed two first half goals in a 2-1 loss to host Queretaro FC in a Week 13 match of the LIGA Bancomer MX-2104 Clausura Friday night at Estadio La Corregidora.


Fernando Da Silva gave Queretaro a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. The Xoloitzcuinntles would answer with a goal in the 29th minute when Dario Benedetto sent a right-footed blast from about 20-yards out past Queretro goalkeeper Edgar Hernandez.


Da Silva scored again in the 35th minute when he sent in a loose ball near the goal line go give the host team the lead.


Club Tijuana pressured Queretaro in the second half but could not find the net. Coach Cesar Farias team came close to tying the match but Cristian Pellerano’s shots from outside the area were inches from beating Queretaro goalkeeper Edgar Hernandez.


Pellerano sent blasts from outside the penalty area, hitting the upright and the crossbar after both were deflected by Hernandez at the last moment.


Club Tijuana is now 5-6-2 with 17 points in the standings. The Xoloitzcuintles return to Tijuana to host Cruz Azul in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals Tuesday April 1 at Estadio Caliente.


The Xoloitzcuintles will then continue with LIGA Bancomer MX action when it hosts CD Toluca Friday April 4 also at Estadio Caliente.
