CLUB TIJUANA 0-0 CD TOLUCA (FINAL)

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente played to a scoreless draw against CD Toluca in the first leg of the LIGA Bancomer MX 2014 Clausura playoffs quarterfinals at Estadio Caliente Thursday night.

The Xoloitzcuintles held possession for most of the first half with a handful of dangerous attacks by midfielder Richard Ruiz and forward Dario Benedetto but couldn’t find the net.

Club Tijuana insisted in trying to catch a defending Toluca team off guard with shots from outside the area, also by Ruiz and Benedetto but they zoomed just over the crossbar or inches from the posts.

The Xoloitzcuintles will now try and break the scoreless tie in the aggregate score in Toluca in the second leg of the home and home series. The final match of the series is Sunday May 4 at Estadio Nemesio Diez 10 a.m. Pacific.
