VISITING WITH EL XOLOBROZO

Club Tijuana fan welcomes club at his home

Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente fans have always been noticed due to their respect and attitude during home matches and also for their unconditional support. These qualities have made our fan base become an iconic element of our team within Mexican soccer.

One of those fans is Emmanuel Jimenez, also known as “XoloBrozo.” He wears a painted X on his face with red and black colors while wearing a half mask half wig with green hair sticking out the back.

Jimenez, a father of two, Jesus Jimenez, 7, and Diego Jimenez, 3, and husband to Mayra Monreal welcomed the club into their home to show their side and passion as Xoloitzcuintles fans. The family displayed a room pained in Club Tijuana colors and a team logo painted by the family itself.

Jimenez, the dad, talked about who he became a fan and shared his first experience as being part of the Xoloitzcuintles faithful.

“It was 2008 and the team was in the Liga de Ascenso during a game against Durango,” Jimenez said. “It caught my attention that the fans were so much into the players and gave them full support. I hadn’t seen that in another team before.”

BECOMING XOLOBROZO

It was one experience that helped lead this fan into becoming the character he is today. It happened in 2011. Jimenez tells us the story.

“My wife and I went to dancing at a party with our friends. It was October 29 and I wore a clown costume that day,” Jimenez said. “There was a home game the next day in Tijuana against San Luis. I was not planning on going but a close friend convinced me to go and I painted my face with the team colors. It was the last home game of the season so I decided I would continue going to games the same way.”

The character became popular and it even caught national attention. National television network TV Azteca went to his house during the 2012 Apertura for an interview that aired during a national show.

“It caught the media’s attention very much,” Jimenez said. “They contacted me to come to the house and do an interview with my family since we are all die hard fans.”

The family has also caught the attention of other fans at home games, joining a fan group called “XoloPandilla” at Estadio Caliente.

“Being el XoloBrozo has allowed us to meet many beautiful people inside the stadium and we have made a great friendship wit the people within the group ‘XoloPandilla’,” Jimenez said. “We take in and support our team during each home game and we will continue to do that.”
