“THE TEAM IS FOCUSED,” –CIRILO SAUCEDO

Club Tijuana goalkeeper has played six official matches against Queretaro

TIJUANA –After a break in the LIGA MX action, there is a thirst to get back to competition against Gallos de Queretaro and Cirilo Sucedo is looking forward to the match.

Saucedo has been the starting goalkeeper in the six official matches played between Club Tijuana and Queretaro. The Xoloitzcuintles are 3-0-1 against the Gallos Blancos but those numbers are a thing of the past. The match is for the three points.

“We were off for two weeks and the team is very focused to play against a great rival Friday, a rival that has great players,” Saucedo said. “Our team has been strong at home and we hope to keep the three points here so that we can remain with hopes to reach the playoffs.”

Both teams are looking for a playoff spot. That could lead to an intense match in which each ball will be contested.

“We have to take it game by game, we can’t think about the fifth game before the first. The rest of the games might be less meaningful if we let points get away. We can’t think about other things that are not Queretaro at home against a team that is directly fighting to get into the postseason.”

Saucedo has been working under the watchful eye of goalkeeper’s coach Oscar Dautt, working on his saves and schemes to face a team with a strong attack and a team that has players that can strike and surprise from all angles.

“We are doing everything possible for the team to gain points,” Saucedo said. “It is an important game. We know we will have the fan’s support and the stadium will be full and we are happy with that. They also have a part in the game. We are playing for a lot this week and so are they. We need their support and their weight over the other team so that we can keep fighting to get into the playoffs.”
