“WE ARE PREPARING WELL,” -ISRAEL JIMENEZ

Xoloitzcuintles defender wants to close out season on good note

TIJUANA –Israel Jimenez looked around practice and he liked what he saw.

“I see all of my teammates with a good attitude heading into the end of the season,” said Jimenez the Xoloitzcuintles defender on Thursday at Estadio Caliente as Club Tijuana prepares to face Club Leon.

It will be a difficult match he says of the “Panzas Verdes” who are looking to clinch a spot in the playoffs. Leon brings the LIGA MX leading scorer in Mauro Boselli but the Xoloitzcuintles players are dedicated to bringing a win to the home crowd for its support this season.

“We are preparing well,” Jimenez said. “There is a lot of anticipation to face this game at home. We want to end on a good note and win.”

Jimenez was a starter against Atlas last week and there is a chance he can do so again at leftback against Leon.

“I felt good playing at that position, I had done it before,” Jimenez said. “I was able to get to a lot of balls and was more offensive. I helped to attack and defend.”

Jimenez played in 14 games, logging 1,006 minutes in this his first tournament as a Xoloitzcuintle. He started in 11 matches.

“I am happy to be here, it is a good team, a good institution,” Jimenez said. “The people treat you well.”
