Xoloitzcuintles held intersquad scrimmages

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente came to Estadio Caliente Saturday morning ready ton continue preparations to face Club Leon in a Week 17 match up next Friday.


Coach Daniel Guzman’s team took advantage of the FIFA break to work on some details and tactics before heading into the final week of the LIGA Bancomer MX regular season.


Club Tijuana went through a couple of intersquad scrimmages with substitutes and players from the Under-20 squad. It was an intense match with the first team winning 3-1. Javier Guemez scored in the first half for a 1-0 lead off a rebound inside the area. Alejandro Guido tied the game 1-1 for the Under-20. But then Dario Benedetto and Edgar Villegas (via PK) scored to secure the win.


Coach Guzman played Cirilo Saucedo at goalkeeper while Javier Gandolfi, Elio Castro, Juan Carlos Nuñez and Luis Garcia as his defenders while Javier Salas, Javier Guemez, Luis Chavez and Israel Salas were the midfielders. Dayro Moreno and Benedetto were the forwards during the first half of the scrimmage. Henry Martin came on for Benedetto late in the half.


The Xoloitzcuintles used Oliver Ortiz, Richard Ruiz, Villegas, Guido as second half substitutes.


Club Tijuana returns to practice Monday at 10 a.m. to continue preparations for its match against Leon. Tickets to the match are on sale at official team stores and online at www.ticketmaster.com.mx.
