GUZMAN MOTIVATED TO FACE LEON

Xoloitzcuintles coach says team will be ready for last game

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente coach Daniel Guzman had a message for the fans Saturday.

“We are committed to giving the fans a win,” Guzman said after Saturday’s training session at Estadio Caliente.

The Club Tijuana coach was referring to his team’s final match of the regular season against Club Leon Friday Nov. 21 at Estadio Caliente.

“We have the opportunity to get three points on our field,” Guzman said. “You always want to win at home and on the road to get into the playoffs but unfortunately we didn’t know how to manage some games and we gave up points that put us in this situation. But we are committed to giving our fans a win against a tough rival that is looking to qualify into the post season.”

The Xoloitzcuintles and Leon have played in 18 matches in the First Division and Liga de Ascenso combined. Club Tijuana is 6-8-4 against Leon with a 40.74 winning percentage.

“I will play the game the same way others have in the history of these type of games,” Guzman said. “There have been some tough games and the Xolos have overcome and come out victorious. But now in the present it will be very difficult for both teams. They have a goal but our intension is to get those three points and give our fans the win.”

Guzman said these type of games need to be played with intelligence but that it is also important to enjoy the intensity of the rivalry and history of these games.

“We need to leave everything on the field,” Guzman said. “We are sad we didn’t reach the playoffs but we are still working hard. We want to give everything on our field and get a win against a tough rival and then continue to make our team more competitive and reach the playoffs. That’s the goal this institution has every six months.”
