“I’M GOING TO LEAVE EVERYTHING ON THE FIELD.” –JESUS CHAVEZ
Coming to Xoloitzcuintles was a dream for the central defender
TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente has a new defender. Jesus Chavez joins Club Tijuana after the team purchased his rights Wednesday night during Mexican soccer’s draft in Mexico City.
Chavez will join the Xoloitzcuintles for the 2015 Clausura tournament, which begins Jan. 10 with a road match against Puebla FC.
Chavez comes from Atlas FC. He said he was excited to hear the news that he was coming to Tijuana, helping him reach one of his career dreams.
“I first want to thank them for their interest in me,” Chavez said. “The team administration looked to sign me two and a half years ago but we couldn’t get it done then. But now, thank God I am part of the Xoloitzcuintles family.”
The new Club Tijuana will see a familiar face. He worked with Xoloitzcuintles head coach Daniel Guzman in Puebla.
“I know Daniel to a perfection,” Chavez said. “I will tell you that I know what will be asked of me and what Daniel will ask me to do. The least I can do for Daniel and for this new jersey, which I will wear with pride and honor, is to bust my tail on the field.”
Chavez took the opportunity to send fans a message.
“A lot of them probably don’t know me but I want them to know that I will leave everything on the field when I get the chance to be there,” Chavez said. “I want to make history with Xolos. It is a team that has shown it is a first rate institution since it arrived. The first time I went to play against Xolos, I could feel getting the chills in front of a great group of fans and the atmosphere during a game. I want to tell them that I am going there with the will to win and to do some great things. I hope to earn their love soon enough. Obviously, I know you earn that with good results on the field. I’ll do my part.”
