Xoloitzcuintles youth teams lose in Queretaro
Under-17 4-0 and U20 squad loses 2-1 in Week 6 road action
QUERETARO, Mexico (Aug. 22, 2017) –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles Under-17 and Under-20 teams lost to Queretaro FC’s youth squads Tuesday in LIGA MX 2017 Apertura Week 6 action.
The Xoloitzcuintles Under-17 team played to a 4-0 loss. Andres Mendez (13th minute), Jose Ramirez (59), and Ramon Sanchez (67th and 85th) scored for the home side. Queretaro earned three more points in the standings.
The Under-20 team played to a 1-0 loss to “Los Gallos.” The Xoloitzcuintles took a 1-0 lead after Mauricio Cuero converted a penalty kick in the 26th minute. Queretaro was whistled for a foul on Cesar Crespo, prompting the PK call.
But Queretaro answered with a pair of goals. George Corrall scored in the 33rd on a free kick while Victor Ochoa sent in the game-winner in the 60th minute.
Club Tijuana’s youth teams will now return home to host Pachuca FC Friday Aug. 25 in Week 7 action at Estadio Caliente.
