CLUB TIJUANA MOVES ON TO QUARTERFINALS
Xoloitzcuintles tie 1-1 vs. Motagua in 2nd leg, win Rd of 16 series 2-1
TIJUANA (Feb. 27, 2018) –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles played to a 1-1 tie against visiting Motagua FC Tuesday in the second leg of the round of 16 CONCACAF Champions League series.
Alberto Garcia scored three minutes into the match when he poked in a right-footed shot off a Motagua defensive mistake. Walter Martinez tied the match in the 88th minute but Club Tijuana wins the home-and-home series 2-1 in aggregate. The Xoloitzcuintles won the first leg 1-0 last week in Edingburg, Texas. Jose Rivero scored in that match.
Club Tijuana moves on to the quarterfinals where it will face the winner of the New York Red Bulls (MLS) and Olimpia of Honduras series. The quarterfinals home-and-home series begins next week with Club Tijuana hosting the first leg March 6. The second leg is the following week.
The Xoloitzcuintles will now focus on LIGA MX action as it will host Lobos BUAP in a 2018 Clausura Week 10 match (7 p.m. Pacific) at Estadio Caliente.
